Excellent product and excellent service Mar 31, 2008 Amazon shipped promptly (for free) and the weather station was installed easily. A warranty return to the manufacturer was required, but the problem was resolved in fairly short order. I am very pleased with the product and with the company's customer service.

Excellent Functionality Mar 07, 2007 The features of this wireless weather station are fantastic. Our only problem with it is that is has broken down twice now. The first time we had to buy a new thermo-hygro sensor. The second time the base station quite giving any outdoor readings except rainfall. I will buy another one, but this one better last longer...

poor quality control for LaCrosse Jan 04, 2007 I have owned three different models of LaCrosse weather stations - one I bought and two were gifts. In each case the outdoor sensing unit failed within six months. In addition, the indoor and outdoor temperature sensing units did not agree when they were placed in the same temperature environment. This company needs to upgrade its quality control seriously.

For inexpensive weather station, it works fine Dec 31, 2006 I have had this weather station outside for a year now. Having read about its limitations online prior to purchasing- that it requires a 3 mph wind to get the wind gauge going & that the rain gauge often breaks when it freezes- I'm happy with my purchase. I'm not currently able to spend the money on the higher quality brands. I bring in the rain gauge for the winter. I recently hooked the station up to my linux server and am running freeware open2300 software. I have the server upload my weather data to the Weather Underground site and the CWOP site. It's been a fun project!

Nice Weather Station - Miserable Software Jan 29, 2006 The WS-2315, by La Crosse Technology, is a really good looking weather station that appears to be fairly accurate and has an adequate wireless range for my purposes (about 60 feet from the house). The big disappointments are the limited choices for connecting the weather station to your computer and the amateurish and poorly implemented software that come with the station.
The only method for connecting the weather station to your computer is via a physical serial port, no USB, and no Bluetooth. What this means is you need an available serial port on your computer and your weather station needs to be five feet away.
There are three pieces of software that come with the weather station. The one that has the potential to be the most useful, Heavy Weather Review, just doesn't work correctly. This application is supposed to allow you to create graphs from information downloaded from the weather station. Its a great concept, but the implementation stinks. First of all, unless, you live in Greenwich, England or somewhere else in the same time zone, the date and time displayed on the graph will be wrong, and there is no way to compensate for this. Also, for some bizarre reason, the software misinterprets the wind chill data so that wind chill readings sometimes appear to be higher than the outdoor temperature readings (if you check the data by clicking Show Data in the main Heavy Weather application, the information appears correctly).
The other applications that come with the weather station are equally disappointing. The version of the software says it all, Version 2.0 Beta. Interestingly, it appears this version has been available for a few years, so don't hold your breath waiting for an update from La Crosse.
