Not worth it Sep 08, 2008 Hi, I purchased this flashlight based on Celestron being a brand that knows about night time. The light from the two LED's is very weak. Yes, it is red, but after this light being completely not enough for the work I was doing, I got some red gel and put it over a flash light. THAT was fine.
Too small, underpowered and over priced. Skip this product.
A helpful tool in the dark Apr 07, 2008 Sure, it's expensive for a flashlight. But - it's cross-section is square, so it doesn't roll away in the dark. The brightness is adjustable so you can tone it down after your eyes have become accustomed to the darkness. The lanyard is very long, so you have a lot of freedom of movement, but it won't get lost easily. Unlike a headlamp, you won't find yourself bonking it against the telescope accidentally.
About the only thing I can think to complain about is the use of a 9V battery...come on! Every other flashlight this size on the planet uses AA size batteries, and I own a pile of rechargeable AAs...but not a single 9V. Recommended.

rating Red Light Oct 30, 2007 I own 4 of these flashlights. They are great for what I need it for but I find the light switch to be a tad difficult to maneuver. It is a wheel located perpendicular to the thumb, with the outer most edge too much embedded into the box. It makes it tough to slide back and forth. You better have sandpaper skin on your thumb for better grip. If you have sweaty hands, forget it. Will I buy it again? Of course, it's probably the best there is. It just needs a little re-design.

Celestron Night light Apr 04, 2007 I found this light ideal for my needs. It's lightweight, compact and powerful and can be activated quickly when needed.

Functional but I would prefer wider illumination Mar 19, 2007 This flashlight does what it's supposed to do, and it has a good range of brightness. I especially like the thumb power switch/rheostat -- it's easy and comfortable to operate. My only complaint is that the circle of illumination is relatively small. I would prefer a wider cone of light to illuminate a wider area.
